Typescript of an interview conducted by Ben Bahlmann on 24 January1999. The audiocassettes from which the interview was transcribed were retained by Bahlmann. Gividen tells about his experiences as a co-pilot on a B-17 bomber during World War II. He talks about his training and experiences in combat. His bomber was shot down over Germany, but it crashed in Switzerland. He was severely injured, and remained in Switzerland for the remainder of the war.

Gividen was a native of Mapleton, Utah, and the co-pilot on a B-17 Bomber "Torchy Tess" which was shot down over Germany and crashed in Switzerland on 25 February 1945.
